Mr. Joe Harrison Talley, age 63, of Buchanan, GA, passed away October 5, 2021.
He was born March 5, 1958, in Cedartown, GA, to the late Edgar Talley and Sarah Lou Pope Talley.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Edgar Talley and Jimmy Talley.
Joe Harrison Talley, a loving father, husband, and "pawpaw". He was an honest, hardworking, and kindhearted man who never failed to make someone smile. He worked for Georgia Power for over 30 years and made lifelong friends, some of which he considered family. He often spoke about his days at the power plant and the stories usually ended with laughs.
Anyone who knew him, couldn't ignore his infectious passion for the Haralson County Veteran's Association. He often went to their meetings and gatherings because he wanted to help veterans that had fallen through the cracks of the "system" to receive benefits they needed and deserved.
Joe was also one of the greatest food connoisseurs to exist. Often going far and wide to try new foods. It didn't matter where he was going, food was the first thing he researched before going on vacation. One of his greatest possessions was his small ball of fur, Lester. You couldn't find Mr. Talley without his dog.
Above all things, Joe was loved by every person who met him; and he cared for each and every one. He told stories of his life experiences and gave every drop of advice he could. He sang happy songs to make you laugh and told jokes to make you laugh harder. He was a living ray of sunshine. He will be dearly missed by all of his friends and family.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Reatha Britt Talley, of Buchanan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Shawn Austin, of Tallapoosa and Heather and Michael Lemon, of Buchanan; five grandchildren, Julie (Levi) Smith, Madison Lemon, Gracie Austin, Cammie Austin, and Sawyer Austin; two nieces and a nephew, Bridgett (David) Matthews, Tammy (Homer) Franklin, and Jimmy Talley; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 8, 2021, at 2:00PM in the Miller Funeral Home Dogwood Chapel with Sammy Robinson officiating.
Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with the Haralson County Veterans Association providing military honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 12:00 to 2:00PM.
