Valerie Patricia Morgan was born in Bellfield, St Mary, Jamaica, to Ivan and Doris Wright, on March 03, 1938. She is the sixth of ten children to her parents; Ira, Noel, Leon, Norma (Peggy) Elaine (Pansy), Leslie, Laura, Carol, and Garth. Her surviving siblings are: Pansy, Leslie, Laura, Carol, and Garth.
After completing college in Jamaica she migrated to the United Kingdom in 1956 in pursuit of a better life. In 1970 she met and married Winston Morgan.
Valerie lived in New York and was employed at the Tetley Tea Company, filling the role of Office Manager.
After relocating to California, she worked in similar positions with several technology companies. Valerie was passionate about serving others as demonstrated in her role as teacher, tutor, volunteer, and mentor in the Foster Grandparents program.
Valerie Morgan was Baptized into the Seventh-Day Adventist faith in 2006, at the Ephesus SDA church in San Jose, California. She later joined the First Church SDA in Port St. Lucie where she continued to grow in her spiritual walk. She served her church faithfully, filling various roles to include: Sabbath school teacher, Pathfinder volunteer, Vacation Bible School volunteer, Deaconess, Tutor, and Choir member.
Valerie was also blessed with six grandchildren: Janel, Nyle, Anna-Patrice, Imani, Surrayah, and Nairobi.
Valerie Morgan was an excellent cook who enjoyed global cuisines with a special affinity for Jamaican and Indian dishes.
Among her favorites sports were netball and swimming She loved the water and found great solace in beach walks and long swims, even in her elderly years. She had an unparalleled sense of humor and challenged the best of the lot in crossword puzzles and scrabble. Valerie Morgan had a particular love for young people and they in return valued her patience in teaching them several skills like how to drive, prepare for exams, and deal with matters of the heart-yes, she was quite the romantic. Valerie Morgan loved her family and friends fiercely and without excuses- she didn't need any.
Her opinions mattered and she understood the value of friendship, sisterhood, and church family. She was steadfast in what she believed and she respected those who believed differently. She was indeed a rare find who will be greatly missed.
Among those who mourn her loss are her three children: Jean, Dennis, and Sean, six grandchildren, siblings, in-laws, nieces nephews, cousins, the Port St Lucie Church family, other relatives and a host of friends.
Sister Morgan breathed her last breath on September 30, 2021, after a brief illness.
She has entered into her sweet rest with the assurance of the blessed hope of reuniting with all her loved ones.
