Obituary for Marie Roberts Ridge
"Grandma Ridge", our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Marie Roberts Ridge, age 96, passed away on January 1, 2021, surrounded by her family.
Marie worked hard her entire life. She retired at age 90 as a tax preparer for H & R Block. She loved her clients, and they loved her back. She took great pride in her work.
Marie loved to travel with her husband and her sister LaRae. Marie and LaRae were two peas in a pod. They had a deep love and bond that lasted their entire lives. They supported each other through thick and thin.
Despite her travels, she always said she lived in a beautiful place, perfect for hosting 4th of July celebrations with the best seat in town for the fireworks. She loved her home that she and Ralph worked so hard to build themselves, down to her flagpole.
She always said that she had sufficient for her needs, and she appreciated everything that was done for her. She followed her motto, "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, do without". She was charitable, sharing everything she had with others. She did not waste anything, and was a good steward of her resources. She would do without, so others could have what they needed or wanted.
Marie lived a full life with her family, her work, her travels, and her faith. She had a deep love for the Savior. She served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in London England Hyde Park, with her husband, setting a great example for her grandchildren to follow. She prayed every night, expressing such love, appreciation, and gratitude for all of her blessing with such a deep faith to our loving Heavenly Father, who welcomed her home with open, loving arms, saying "well done".
She is survived by her four children: Candice (Richard) Bruschke, Stevan (Karen) Ridge, Tom (Kim) Ridge, Teri (Paul) Crossett, 17 grandchildren, 14 grandchildren-in-law, and 29 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Jesse and Emily Crossett who cared for grandma in her home for 18 months. We would like to thank Kyle and Brittany Crossett who cared for grandma in their home the past 4 months. We would also like to thank Laura May and Melissa from Brio Hospice who loved Marie and allowed her to pass from this life with grace and dignity.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2021 at the Hillcrest 1st Ward Chapel, 1450 South 800 East, Orem, Utah.
