Mary F. Simmons of Brick, NJ passed on to meet the Lord on October 3, 2021 at the age of 101. Mary was born February 11, 1920, to Italian immigrants Joseph and Rose Frank of Bethlehem, PA. She survived the Spanish Flu epidemic, the Great Depression and went to Liberty High School in Bethlehem. Mary graduated Germantown Hospital Nursing School in Philadelphia, PA in 1942 during WWII and began her lifelong career as a Registered Nurse. Mary furthered her Health Education profession as a 1967 graduate of Trenton State College earning her Bachelor of Science in Health Education while still working and raising young children.
Mary's career included a variety of nursing positions and private duty position in various hospitals, manufacturing plants, Atlantic City casinos and retired in 1985 after 23 years as a School Nurse and Health Teacher in the Manville School system. Mary next moved on to Nurse at the Atlantic City Casinos and added an additional job at the age of 78 enabling her to serve the indigent of Atlantic City working well into her 80s. She was a passionate anti-smoking advocate, nutritionist and preventative health proponent emphatic to share her views and resources with all.
Mary is genuinely regarded as an amazing woman by all who knew her and for her devout Roman Catholic faith, professional career accomplishments, her benevolence and kindness towards all as well as her many charitable acts.

Mary is survived by her five children, Oliver B. Simmons III of Dingmans Ferry, PA; David C. Simmons of Rohnert Park, CA.; Jonathan J. Simmons of Pine Knoll Shores, NC; Frederic N. Simmons of St. Petersburg, FL, Sharon Simmons Bruder of Brick, NJ, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021 at St. Dominic's Church, 250 Old Squan Road, Brick.

Entombment will follow at St. Mary of the Lake Mausoleum in Lakewood.
