John Edward Smith, 56, of Colonial Heights, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007 at his residence. He was the son of the late Jesse T. and Sara Barlow Smith. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas W. Smith.
Mr. Smith was a member of the Tri-City Coin Club and the Richmond Coin Club. He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Smith; a stepdaughter, Robin G. Klein and husband John of Littleton Colo.; a sister, Donna Y. Martin of Colonial Heights; two grandchildren, Jay and Alisa Klein; an aunt, Lena B. Bish of Prince George; a niece, Jessica B. Tipton of Chester; and a nephew, Bret A. Martin of Dinwiddie.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with a prayer at 2 p.m. Interment will be at 3:30 p.m. at Waverly Town Cemetery, Sussex County.
