Sarah "Marty" Brown, 97, formerly of Ottumwa, died on Thursday, September 30, 2021 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Marty was born September 15, 1924 in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to Hazel and William Martin.

She grew up in Marion, Indiana where she met Gerry Brown whom she married on December 25, 1944.

In 1948, the couple started their own business, Brown Electronics, which they continued to operate in Ottumwa until Gerry's death in 1994.

Marty was an active member in the Dudes and Dolls square dance club for 33 years, she participated in many wildlife and conservation groups including Pheasants Forever, Bluebird Recovery Program, North American Bluebird Society, and Wapello County Conservation projects.

Marty is survived by her two sons: Randy of Sandia Park, New Mexico and Kim of Ottumwa, Iowa; two daughters, Dawn (Brown) Given of Deltona, Florida and Tonja (Brown) Brannaman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and her sister, Berniece Christensen of Auburn, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings, her husband, Gerry Brown and grandson, Derek Brown.

A simple graveside service will be held at Shaul Cemetery, Ottumwa on Thursday, October 7th at 1:00 P.M.
