Philip Richard Sherman Sr., 80, of Eglon, WV, went home to be with the Lord on October, 1st 2021, after an extended illness. He was born in Parsons, WV on March, 14th, 1941, to the late Oscar "Scrub" and Lavelle (Phillips) Sherman.

Phil's first jobs were working for Duke Stump and Dutch Oven Bakery. Later in life, his

main occupation was a body man and painter. He worked at Ours & Key, Ford Dealership and Lamberts Chevrolet in Parsons. After moving to Ohio, he worked at J&J's, Charley's Chevrolet and General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio. For many years he enjoyed dealing in antiques, but his true passion in life was raising donkeys.

He surrendered his life to the Lord on May 29th, 1977 and his main desire in life was to see others accept Jesus Christ as their own personal savior. His faith remained strong and he shared with everyone his joy that he would soon be going home.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carolyn (Helmick) Sherman; one brother, Dave Sherman and wife Lorraine; one sister, Rebecca Bozic and husband Dennis; 5 nephews, Mark, Stephen, John and Scott Sherman and Dylan Bozic.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Phil Jr. Sherman and one brother, Steve Sherman.

Even in death, Phil's desire was to help others, so he made the decision to donate his body to the Human Gift Registry for the advancement of science. A memorial service will be held Sunday October 17th, 2021, at 1:30 pm at the Mt. Lake Independent Baptist Church in Oakland, MD.
