Delores Estelle (Ricks) Harris of Hartford, beloved wife for 38 years to Deacon James Andrew Harris, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 3, 2021.

Delores was born in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of the late Roy and Anona Ricks. After the untimely death of her mother, she was raised by Willard and Estelle Nelson. She was a graduate of the Westinghouse High School. Delores received her Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Hartford Community College and was employed Colt Firearms for over 30 years before retiring. After retiring from Colt, she was employed as a day worker for several families in the Hartford area. Delores was a foster mother to many children in addition to her own nine.

A woman of great faith and prayer, Delores was baptized at an early age at the Rodman Street Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, PA under the leadership of her Pastor, Rev. George L. Bowick. After moving to Hartford, she was a founding member of the Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess, head of the Bereavement and Support ministry, choir member, Sunday School teacher, youth leader, and served in the Missionary Ministry. Delores was a founder of the youth choir, supervisor for the Faith Gospel Singer, and the Hartford Choral Union for many years. She also volunteered for many years at St. Francis Hospital Hospice. Affectionately known as "Mother Harris" or "Deaconess Harris" she was well respected and loved by many.

Delores loved to cook for loved ones, spend time with her family, and travel by train to visit family throughout the country. In recent years, she loved to communicate via Facebook and FaceTime with her family and friends. She collected salt and pepper shakers and commemorative decorations and loved to sew. She also loved to bake her famous, Carrot Cake and drink cold Pepsi soda. She was loving, kind, and would often give words of direction and correction in a loving way.

Delores is survived by her children, David Leonard Weaver and his wife Ernestine of East Hartford, Donna Weaver of Windsor, Min. Sheila DeBroux and her husband Aaron of Paterson, NJ, Min. Sandra E. Forbes and her husband Pastor Roland of Lancaster, PA, Clifton Jenkins and his wife Min. Lisa of Lancaster, PA, Elizabeth Claybrooks and her husband Timothy of Nashville, TN, and her daughter-in-love, Patricia Weaver of South Dakota; 24 grandchildren; ample great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; two God-children, Khambrel Arter and Andre Nelson; a very special high school friend, Virginia Palmer; along with other relatives, and dear friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sons, Ronald "Beaver" Weaver and Charles "Eddie" Weaver; her daughter, Pastor Charlotte Evans; as well as her grandsons, Aaron DeBroux, Jr., Kraig David Weaver and Clifton Jenkins, II; granddaughter, Chanel Bozeman; and her great-granddaughter, Mahkiya Tate.

We thank God for the life, love, and legacy of Delores Estelle (Ricks) Harris. Well done, good and faithful servant.
