On Friday, October 8, 2021, Ruth "Pat" Baker passed away after a brief stay in Nocona General Hospital. Ruth was well-loved by all those blessed to know her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was also an active and dedicated member at the local Church of Christ throughout her life. Ruth was born on November 18, 1922, in Dye Mound, Texas and died shortly before her 99th birthday due to an unexpected battle with pneumonia. She was a humble woman who impressed all those who knew her or whom she met along the way. She is preceded in death by her parents; Clyde Bess and Mollie Wade Bess, husband; Eli A. Baker, daughter; Charlotte Baker, brothers; Happy Bess and Bill Bess.

She is survived by son George C. Baker and daughter-in-law Sandra of Saint Jo, Texas; daughter Patricia Richardson and son-in-law David of Arlington, Texas; 6 grandchildren Tammy Briley, Coy Baker, Dana Judd, Brandie Baker, Kimberly Richardson and Hollye Marlow, 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers: Coy Baker, Vance Briley, Joel Judd, Eric Martin, Paul Marlow, Kaleb Judd, Kaston Marlow, Karter Marlow, Karson Judd, Elijah Baker, Ethan Baker.

She worked for many years as a secretary, the last years as a Texas State Employee in Vernon, Texas before retirement. Ruth was kind-hearted, hard-working, independent, always active, creative and loved her family and friends. She was an excellent cook, talented artist painting pictures and crocheting blankets for her family. She loved flowers and gardening throughout her life. She was active well into her late 90's cooking and often doing her own yard work. She was born in Dye Mound, Texas, married Eli Baker, February 8, 1942, and lived there until she went with Eli as he went to college on the G.I. Bill after WWII. After their professional lives, in 1989 they ultimately returned and retired to Saint Jo, where they considered "home". Ruth was a light in this world and was truly loved. She will be deeply missed.

Services held Monday October 11, 2021 in the chapel at Scott Funeral Home in Saint Jo, Texas. Graveside following at Dye Mound Cemetery. Officiating minister, Steve Chism.
