Jan was born in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska, she was the daughter of the late William and Ethel Howard. She was a school teacher. .
Jan was a devoted wife, of more than fifty-years to H. Wayne Allen and loving mother to Shannon (Chuck) Palmer and Autumn (John) Ferguson. She was a loving Nana to her grandchildren, Alexa, Katelyn, and Ethan Palmer and Julianna, Molly, and Allison Ferguson.
Jan loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was very creative. Among her many talents were painting, cooking, cake decorating, sewing and quilting. She also enjoyed reading and playing games.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Carol Tyree, Celebrant, officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Private interment will be in Amelia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, VA.
