Ruth Naomi (Brown) Brooks, 98, of Springfield, MO, passed away September 29, 2021. Ruth was born April 29, 1923 in Ava, MO. She is preceded in death by her husband, Selbia Clifford Brooks; her parents, Claude Harrison Brown and Letta Ophelia (Sell) Brown; two brothers, Gerald William Brown and Etcyl Boyd Brown. Ruth left her family farm and moved to California with three friends. She worked as a Material Expeditor in a shipyard during World War II. Ruth was wed to Selbia Clifford Brooks August 27,1944 in San Francisco, California. Ruth took nurse's aide courses and worked with private patients, Upjohns, Cox North Child Care Centre. She also worked at Woolworths in San Francisco, Lily Tulip and JCPenney. Ruth retired in 1986 and enjoyed spending time at her farm in Ava and her home in Springfield. Ruth enjoyed gardening, her flowers, reading and spending time with her family. She is survived by her children; Judy Jeffries; Ron Brooks; Keith and wife, Sherry Brooks; three grandchildren; Jennifer Chaffee and husband, Ebon; Bethany Precht; Zachary Brooks and wife Natalie; and ten great grandchildren; Tyler, Gunnar and Jameson Chaffee; Isaac and Evelyn Precht; Nora, Noah, Rily, John and Ezra; two sisters, Elba Jane (Brown) Chandler, and Clara Nell (Brown) Spurlock.
Funeral services will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, 441 W. Battlefield, Springfield, Missouri. Viewing will be in the funeral home chapel from 8:30 am – 9:30 am preceding services.
Interment Wednesday, October 6, 2021 in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery.
