Eugene "Gino" Samuel Young, 50 years old of Questa, NM was called home to be with our Lord on Sunday, September 26, 2021. He was a beloved and devoted father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, godfather, cousin, friend, neighbor and co-worker.

Gino was born in La Jara, CO in 1971 to Lupe and Theresa Young of Questa, NM. He is preceded in death by his father Jose Lupe "Lupito" Young. He is survived by his daughters, his ultimate pride and joy, McKayla, Giana and Abigail; and the mother of his children Julie Martinez of Questa. He is survived by his mother, Theresa Young, Questa, NM; siblings Deborah Young, Albuquerque, NM; Vincent (Stacey) Young, Los Lunas, NM; Vernon Young, Jaroso, CO; Georgette Young, Carlsbad, TX; Martin (Bernadine) Young, Questa, NM; Jeanine (Scott) Weyand, Austin, TX; Priscilla Benavidez, Albuquerque, NM; and Tom (Jeannie) Esgate, Taos, NM, several nieces and nephews, Tias, Tios and Primos.

Gino was raised in Questa on the family farm and ranch where he attended Questa Elementary and Middle School. He attended New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) in Roswell, NM as a freshman and proudly graduated from NMMI. He attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM for a semester and then moved to Austin, TX where he got a job at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) as a fabrication operator building computer chips. He quickly rose to the position of Water Purification Specialist and immediately began serving on the Water Purification Safety Board; he lived in Austin for 12 years. After his stint in Texas he returned home to help his family on the farm and ranch; furthermore, at the same time he was a school bus driver for the Questa Schools. He thoroughly enjoyed meeting the kids, and they loved his friendly attitude. He was also very proud of the fact that he got to spend quality time with the next generation of students and athletes while driving the activity bus. He then started working for Romero's Excavation and was subsequently hired by former Molycorp Mine and eventually was laid off. He was currently employed by Entact as a Field Project Manager. He enjoyed going to working everyday and facing new challenges, but most of all, the camaraderie and friendship of his work family! After getting home from a long day's work, he had a second job as a cattle rancher. After his father's passing in February, he took on the majority of the responsibility in caring for the family's cattle ranch and business.

Needless to say, Gino was loved by all who knew and met him. There were never any strangers in his life….only new friends!

Funeral services for Gino will be held on Saturday, October 2nd at St. Anthony Parish in Questa, NM. Rosary begins at 9:00 am followed by a eulogy, and a sharing of fond memories of Gino…so come prepared. Funeral Mass begins promptly at 11:00 am, followed immediately by the Burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church cemetery in Cerro, NM.

The Young family sincerely thanks the outpouring of prayers, love and generosity shown by family, friends, neighbors and the entire community during this tragic event.
