Joseph Charles Holland Sr.
February 18, 1947 – September 10, 2021

Joseph Charles Holland, Sr., age 74, of Indianapolis, died on Friday, September 10 at the VA Hospital of Indianapolis, IN. Joe was born on February 18, 1947 in Troy, NY, a son to Edward and Stasia Holland. He married Sharon Hendricks on September 9, 1973 and was able to celebrate 48 years of marriage the day before his passing. She survives.

Also surviving are their children, Kimberley (Bill) Field of Carmel, IN and Joey (Kari) Holland of Peoria, IL; and four grandchildren, Kennedy and Mason Field, and Tyler and Luke Holland. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Joe served in the United States Army from 1968-1971 including one year in Vietnam. He also played on the Hunter Army Airfield Base basketball team. He spent most of his career working in management for Building Services of various entities. He was very involved in the Avon chapter of the Indiana Jaycees, including being a chapter President, eventually serving as the state Vice President. He was an elite former athlete who loved sports and was an avid fan of all things Hoosiers, Colts, Pacers, and Yankees. He was known for his great stories, his ability to tell a good joke, and his passion for the game of golf.

A visitation will be held from 2-5 pm on Sunday, September 19 at Crown Hill Cemetery and Funeral. A funeral service will take place at 11 am on Monday, September 20 at the same location with a graveside burial on site to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Veteran Health Indiana.
