ANDREA K. FLYNN, died Friday, March 1, 1996. She was born on June 8, 1911 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Mrs. Flynn was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Pat V. Flynn in 1987. After she graduated from the University of Minnesota as a Phi Beta Kappa, they came to Texas. During their early years in Freeport, they began a family, worked, wrote and acted in little theatre productions and served in a variety of community activities. Both had been residents of the Memorial area of Houston since 1954. She was always an active member of her community and her community was the world. She taught World History and Advanced Social Studies Problems at Memorial High School for ten years. After retiring, she founded the Houston Area Model United Nations in 1975, and devoted herself with energy and enthusiasm to her students and to her firm belief in a language of peace and cooperation that might heal the divisions between peoples and countries.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 4, 1996 at the First Congregational Church, 10840 Beinhorn, with Reverend Robert Tucker officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery Pallbearers will be Colin Bown, Kevin Bown, Mike Bown, Pat Flynn and Tim McGuire.
