Ronald L. Layes, 78, a resident of Scranton, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith.
He was born February 17, 1943, in Scranton to the late John and Estelle (Beshoner) Layes. Ronald was a graduate of Subiaco Academy. After graduation he spent his working years in both cattle farming and box manufacturing for several companies including Mead Container in Fort Smith. Ronald was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco, Logan County Bank Board and Logan County Cattlemen's Association.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Regina Marie ''Jeanie'' (Lensing) Layes and a brother, John Layes.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Layes and wife, Holly of Fort Smith and Darian Layes and wife, Samantha of Lavaca; two grandchildren, Lindsey Biocic and husband, Thomas of Prairie Grove and Garrett Layes of Fort Smith; a great granddaughter, Brooklynn Bicoic of Prairie Grove; a brother, Charlie Layes of Scranton and two sisters, Teresa Roos of Caldwell, Idaho and Clarine Terwey of Scranton.
Service arrangements are pending.
Pallbearers will be Garrett Layes, Brent Layes, Craig Layes, Jay Layes, Clint Layes, Bryan Lensing and Gary Kaelin.
