Darryl Wayne Wilson entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 14, 2016. Darryl was born in Fort Lee, Va., on September 23, 1959. He was the youngest son of Irene E. Wilson and the late Henry G. Wilson of Sutherland, Va. A caring, wonderful man with an outgoing personality, Darryl excelled in school and graduated from Petersburg High School in 1977.

Darryl received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va., and received a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Howard University in Washington, D.C. Having served honorably in the United States Army and advancing to the rank of Captain, Darryl received the United States Army's Officer's Basic School Certificate of Completion in San Antonio, Texas. Darryl received the Army Service Ribbon/National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and Southwest Asia Service Medal with two bronze service stars and the Army Commendation Medal. Darryl was affiliated with the United States Army MEDDAC Health Services Hospital.

Darryl was a Registered Pharmacist for thirty years, serving as Director of Pharmacy at North Hills Hospital, Pharmacy Supervisor at Weatherford Regional Hospital, Pharmacy Consultant at Webb Kohler Pharmacy, Pharmacist in Charge of Long Term Care and Hospice at Perrone's Pharmacy and Inpatient Pharmacy Director at JPS Health Network. Darryl served as a Facilitator and Staff Developer through The Wilson Institute of Communication, an Organization in which he founded.

Darryl will be forever cherished by his many family members, his mother, Irene E. Wilson; brothers, H. Michael Wilson, Juan W. Wilson (Thomila) and Terry D. Wilson; sister, Faye Wilson Tate. Darryl is also survived by his nephews, Michael Caleb Wilson, Juan W. Wilson, Jr., Jiyeonn Lewis, Jiylique Lewis and Jiyizale Lewis; nieces, Juankneca Wilson, Juankeara Wilson, Elleana Wilson Tate and Jiyiahe Lewis. Darryl had a special bond and love for his cousin, Nadim Sammur. Darryl was truly blessed and had an incredible village of friends to include Vanessa Ward, Teressa Torres, Selinza Mitchell, Ellawese Smith, Michael Byrd, Champion Christian and Joe Hidrogo.

A Memorial Celebration will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Gillfield Baptist Church, 209 Perry Street, Petersburg Va.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to The American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060, in memory of Darryl Wayne Wilson.
