Valetta Jewell "Vickie" Sharp, 95, died September 30, 2021, at Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance, Fort Worth, TX. She was born May 27, 1926, on the family farm at Sylvia, to Herman and Laura (Lang) Moeckel.

Vickie graduated from Sylvia Rural High School in 1944, and Emporia State Teacher's College in 1948. She loved farm life, wheat harvest. Vickie worked as a librarian in a number of states, and was the original librarian for the Johnson County Library. She retired from the Army Corps of Engineers after 25 years of service.

On July 18, 1948, she married Claude Eugene Sharp, in Sylvia. He died February 10, 2014, after sharing almost 66 years of marriage.

Vickie is survived by: two loving children and their families, and a host of extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two siblings.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W 4th Ave, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to a local animal shelter, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
