OBITUARY
Wilma Delores Dixon, age 83, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 26, 2021 after a long battle with COPD. She was born June 18, 1938 in Cleveland, Tennessee to Bill and Daisy Crye. She was married to Jack T. Dixon on August 5, 1960 in San Francisco, California. Jack preceded her in death in November 2006.

Wilma worked many places over her 83 years where she made many lifelong friends. She was a waitress at Woolworth's and other restaurants in Miami Beach, FL. She was an Assembly Line Worker for Duracell in Cleveland, TN. She and her daughter operated a home Child Care Center also in Cleveland. She worked for Bally's and MGM Casinos in Las Vegas, NV. She worked USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service in Athens, GA.

Wilma loved people. She never met a stranger and was well know throughout the Watkinsville and Athens Communities over the last 20+ years. She was an active member of Bishop Baptist Church in Bishop, Georgia until the pandemic prevented her from attending for the last 18 months. She loved caring for the children in Nursery School. She never met a child she didn't instantly love. She NEVER forgot a birthday. She loved family most of all but she also loved her church family and her Bible Study Group. She loved going on mission trips with the church. Her favorite charity was Black Oak Baptist Mission in Williamsburg, KY where she was baptized on June 6, 2017.

She is survived by her son, William (Nancy), grandchildren; Jessica (Rory), Joey, Marsheena (Bruce) and Miranda (Brian), nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Sadly, her only daughter, Jacqueline preceded her in death in August 2020.

She requested a private family service at the foot of her Mother's grave in Cleveland, TN. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Black Oak Baptist Mission, Williamsburg, KY; her assembly, Bishop Baptist Church, Bishop, GA; the Salvation Army; Goodwill or America's Thrift Store.
