Henrietta attended Stephens Lee High School and was a graduate of South French Broad High School Class of 1967. She received an Associate of Science degree from Cecil's Business College. Henrietta retired from the Asheville City Schools and worked at K-mart for 19 years. She was a member of Nazareth First Missionary Baptist Church and served as coordinator of the Benevolence Ministry, member of the Missionary Ministry, Church Photographer, Culinary Ministry, and chair of the Decorating Committee for the 150th Church Anniversary. She willingly served other ministries as requested. Henrietta was a member of the Essence of Asheville and the Shiloh Tripsters. She was an avid photographer, which brought her great joy in taking pictures of family and friends.
Henrietta was preceded in death by her husband, John Cunningham, Sr.; son, John Cunningham, Jr.; grandparents, Henry and Verdree Ligon; grandson, Darius Cunningham .
Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Cheryl "Lisa" Hutchison (Robert); grandsons, John "Jay" Cunningham III (Dominique) and Jamal Hutchison; great-grandchildren, LahJayah and Jahid Cunningham; a host of nieces, nephews; beloved relatives and dear friends.
Henrietta will be remembered mostly for being selfless, generous, caring, and kind. Her presence and laughter will be forever remembered by those whom she passed along the way. She will be truly missed; Heaven has added an Angel. Rest in Peace, Henrietta. We love you.
Public viewing will be from 2:00-6:00 pm Monday, October 4, 2021 in the chapel of Ray Funeral & Cremation Service. Public viewing will also be from 12:00-1:00 pm Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Nazareth First Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm also at the church.
