Johnny Morgan Ryan, 67, of Coopers Creek went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday December 4, 2007, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was at home surrounded by his family and loving wife, Doris, at the time of his passing.

Johnny was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher and also enjoyed singing in the choir.

He was employed at Union Carbide Corporation Institute Plant and Rhone Poulenc Inc., with 29 years of service, holding several supervisory jobs, with his last position being that of the B-Shift supervisor. He was a member of the fire brigade and served as the emergency director. Johnny also served in the United States Army for six years.

Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Doris Jean Shafer Ryan; stepmother, Mildred Ryan of Cottageville; sons, Stephen L. Ryan and wife, Lenaa, of Pinch, Thomas Ryan and wife, Patty, of Fairmont, Johnny Ryan Jr. and wife, Connie, of Coopers Creek and Jeffrey Ryan and wife, Joyce, of Palm Bay, Fla.; daughter, Cindy Harless and husband, Mark, of Charleston; brothers, Ronald Ryan of Houston, Texas, and Conrey Ryan of Tampa, Fla.; sisters, Annette Boggs of Lexington, Ky., and Ruth Lemmon of Cross Lanes; eight grandchildren; Stephanie Chambers and husband, Dean, of Kernersville, N.C., Samantha Ryan of Pinch, Joshua Ryan of Fairmont, Brittany Harless of Charleston, Zane Ryan of Fairmont and Patrick, Haley, and Heather Ryan of Coopers Creek.

Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 8, at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, Coopers Creek, with the Rev. Art Morrison and the Rev. Raymond Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in Blaine Memorial Cemetery, Cottageville.
