Larry Dudley West
OCTOBER 18, 1942 – SEPTEMBER 29, 2021

Larry West was born on October 18, 1942, in Fresno, California, to John and Thelma West. He passed away in Clovis, California, on September 29, 2021 at the age of 78. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1960 where he was a member of the diving team. The following Monday after graduating high school, he entered the United States Navy. He was stationed on the USS Delta AR-9 as a salvage diver. Upon completing his service in the navy, his next step was becoming a Fresno City Firefighter, Paramedic, and an Engineer during his 28 years on the job. During that time, he also owned and operated Western Air Conditioning.

During high school, he met Lynne, and they married in August of 1961. They had two children, Scott and Christine. Larry and Lynne were very active in the Fresno Field Archers, Madera Field Archers, Fresno Fly Fishers for Conservation, and the Fresno and Clovis Radio Modelers Club. Larry built their RV from the ground up, and the family traveled many miles together to archery tournaments, the Oceano Dunes with their dune buggy, and many camping trips with friends and family. He also had a love for micro midget racecars, which he raced for a couple of years, and motorcycles, which he rode his whole life.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, John and Thelma. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lynne, his son Scott West, his daughter Chrissy White and her husband David, his granddaughters, Amanda West, Sydney Sturner and her husband David, grandson Justin White, his brother Terry and his wife Diane, his step-mother Millie West, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his three loyal fur babies, Bitsey, Lily, and Oreo, the stray cat that adopted Dad whether he liked it or not. (He liked it but wouldn't admit it.)

A Graveside Service for Larry will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Clovis Cemetery, 305 North Villa Avenue, Clovis, California 93612.
