She was born in Everett on September 27, 1930 and was a daughter of the late Eugene and Ella (Ross) Tobey. She received her education in Everett schools and was a graduate of Everett High School.
Prior to her retirement, Joan was employed for over 20 years as a teacher's aide for Chelmsford schools.
In her free time she enjoyed traveling, baking, cooking, and entertaining her relatives and friends.
Joan is survived by her two sons, Scott W. Sparks and his wife Patti of Guilford, VT and Glenn D. Sparks and his wife Angela of Tampa, FL; her daughter, Laurie J. Sparks of Roslindale; her two grandsons, Devon and Dillon Sparks; her sister, Janet Hill and her husband Leslie of Falmouth; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD on Friday from 4 until 7 pm. Her Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 o'clock.
Interment will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
