She is survived by three sisters, Elizabeth Moore and husband Wayne of Shelby, NC, Mary Owens of Shelby, NC, and Becky Fox and husband Phil of Mooresboro, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews. Born September 26, 1956 in Rutherford County, Rita was the daughter of the late Baxter Reid Lancaster and Edna Hamrick Lancaster and was preceded in death her two brothers, Donald Lancaster and J.L. Lancaster.
Rita was member of Trinity Baptist Church. Rita enjoyed attending the Vocational Workshop for more than 35 years while visiting her many friends there. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially her adopted grandbabies. Rita also enjoyed sitting in her rocking chair and feeding the birds. She loved camping, going to the beach, and riding in the golf cart. Rita spent many hours coloring and putting puzzles together.
A visitation will be held from 2:30 – 3:30 pm Monday, October 4, 2021 at Cleveland Funeral Services and Crematory. A graveside service will follow at 4:00 pm at Cleveland Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Andy Oliver.
