David E. Payne of Opelika, Alabama was born to the late James Ocie and Mary Johnson Payne on January 28, 1951 and passed away at East Alabama Medical Center on August 31, 2021. He was 70 years old.
He worked for over 40 years with AMCO where he became a foreman and was well-known in the community for his plumbing business. He was a member of Union Christian Church in Little Texas, Alabama. He was a devoted husband, father, Pawpaw, brother, and Alabama fan.
David is survived by his wife of 31 years, Wanda J. Payne; children, Kecia Lewis, Mandy Blankenship, Brittney Payne (Travis), Courtney Payne; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Tally, Barbara McDonald; brothers, Ronnie Payne (Meri), Mark Payne (Wanda); special family friend, Margaret Smith as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 3, 2021 in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Graveside service will be held at Little Texas Cemetery Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Rusty Sowell officiating.
