Jamie Rodriguez
June 21, 1972 - September 25, 2021

Bartow - Jamie Rodriguez, age 49, passed away September 25, 2021, at Bartow Regional Medical Center. He was born on June 21, 1972, in Bartow, FL to Henry and Eloise Rodriguez. In 1991, he married his wife Renea, whom he was married to for 30 wonderful years. Shortly after they welcomed daughters Kayla and Sam. His relationship with Renea was built around love for one another and their shared love for Christ. In the early years of their marriage, at night they would take long drives and often sit outside and star gaze where they would have long, deep talks. He bonded with both of his daughters through softball. He enjoyed spending time with Kayla watching, reading and discussing comic books and superheroes. With Sam, he spent a lot of time researching and studying the Bible. His love and skill of humor and wit were passed on to his daughters. Jamie spent his life surrounded by family who loved spending time with him. His brother Russell Rodriguez and him coached softball together for close to 20 years. He held his memories on the field close to his heart. His nephew Christian Rodriguez bonded with him over a love of professional wrestling. Jamie was an avid fisherman, who enjoyed casting a line in the hopes of snagging a big catfish. His son-in-law, Dustin Grimsley and him spent many Saturdays and Sunday afternoons at the lake fishing and comparing BBQ recipes. Growing up Jamie enjoyed watching wrestling and playing video games with his mom, he was a self declared mama's boy and he was proud of it! Jamie spent his professional life working for the City of Lakeland as a Power Plant and Heavy Equipment Operator. He also enjoyed working on home improvement projects with his dad and brother. Jamie spent the latter half of his life dedicated to serving Christ. He served several churches over the years working with youth students. At the time of his passing he was attending Gateway Church in Bowling Green where he served on the Media Team and as a Board Member. He had an extended family at Gateway Church, whom he absolutely loved. His impact to the world through his dedication to Christ is immeasurable. Humor was an important part of Jamie's personality. Everyone could always depend on him to bring laughter to a room. Jamie enjoyed hosting wrestling parties with his family and close friends, the LaFollette and Windsor families, whose sons he loved as his own. He also enjoyed spending time watching movies with Ryne Pugh. Jamie spent his weekday evenings watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. His favorite time of the year was Christmas. He spent months researching and planning Christmas gifts that were unique and fitting to each family member. He always made Christmas mornings magical, even when his children were grown. He was a giving and loving person who would sacrifice for anyone. For Jamie, seeing his family happy is what made him happy. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carlton and Francis Whitaker, Guadalupe and Paula Rodriguez, his son James Michael, daughter Ashley Ryan, along with a grandchild, and his best friend Aaron LaFollette. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Condolences to family can be made at www.whiddenmcleanfuneralhome.com
