Born December 21, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York he was the son of the late Elton and Ragnhild (Sjursen) Stevens.
On November 11, 1983, in Walton, New York, he married the love of his life and childhood sweetheart from Brooklyn, Barbara Ann Hansen. They had over 37 happy years together before her passing February 4, 2020.
He proudly served his country during the Korean War as a Marine from 1951 to 1959. During his service, he earned a Two Star Korean Service Medal, a UN Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Letter of Commendation with Comat "V", and a Korean PUC (Presidential Unit Citation).
He was employed by Werner Enterprises, Omaha Nebraska as a Truck Driver until his retirement in 2005.
Stanley was a Master Horseman and a Blacksmith and loved working with his hands. He was always tinkering including the wheelchairs at the VA Facility. He was a simple man with high ideals that would do anything for his family.
Survivors include his children, Robert Stevens and his wife, Elizabeth of Rio Rancho, NM, John Stevens and his wife, Amy of Lake Mary, FL, Michael Stevens and his wife, Annegret Olshausen-Stevens of Hawthorne, FL, Jeanine Koehnken and her husband, Bill of Pine Bush, NY, Carol York and her husband, Gus of Rensselaer, NY, and Christine Fortunato and her husband, Ken of Kings Park, NY and Glenn Schillinger and his wife, Jenni of Uxbridge, MA; one sister, Marion Layman and her husband, Ted of Saugerties, NY; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his loving wife, Barbara and his parents, Stanley was also predeceased by his sister, Naomi Murtha.
Burial will take place at the Gerald B. H. Solomon National Military Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville New York 12871
