Jason M. Smith, 44, of Blakeslee Boulevard, West, Lehighton, Mahoning Township, Carbon County, Pennsylvania, died suddenly Sunday afternoon, September 26, 2021, at his home. Born in Allentown, he was a son of Lena M. (Zeigenfuss) Smith with whom he resided.
Jason was employed in general labor by J and R Slaw Concrete, Inc., West Bowmans, and also for several tree removal companies. He served in the Marine Corps, Gulf War Era, and achieved the rank of Cpl. E-4. Jason was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Rifle Badge (3RD AWD), and Sharpshooter Pistol Badge. His primary specialty was M1A1 Tank Crewman. Jason was a 1995 graduate of the Lehighton High School. He attended Christ Evangelical Free Church, Mahoning Township. Jason enjoyed fishing, and the occasional deer hunt.
Survivors: Mother. Maternal grandparents, Delbert and Janet Smith of Forest Inn. Brothers, Jesse L. and companion Tania Coller of Kauai, HI, and David D. Smith of Lehighton. 2 Aunts. Numerous cousins. He is also survived by his registered emotional support dog, Tank.
Services: Graveside Services with Military Honors, 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 178W, Annville, PA.
