He served in the Marine Corps, Gulf War Era, and achieved the rank of Cpl. E-4. Jason was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Rifle Badge (3RD AWD), and Sharpshooter Pistol Badge. His primary specialty was M1A1 Tank Crewman. Jason was a 1995 graduate of the Lehighton High School. He attended Christ Evangelical Free Church, Mahoning Township. Jason enjoyed fishing, and the occasional deer hunt.
Survivors: Mother. Maternal grandparents, Delbert and Janet Smith of Forest Inn. Brothers, Jesse L. and companion Tania Coller of Kauai, HI, and David D. Smith of Lehighton. 2 Aunts. Numerous cousins. He is also survived by his registered emotional support dog, Tank.
