Albert, formerly of Hartford, passed away Clover Manor Nursing home, where he resided for the past seven months.

He was born in Canton, son of the late Bernard L. and Julia Hayden Adams. He graduated from Canton High School in 1937, and received his chemical engineering degree from the University of Maine, Class of 1941. He was married for 63 years to the former June Rose who died Dec. 6, 2004.

He served in the U. S. Navy as an Ensign during World War II in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he worked in businesses related to the paper industry in Maryland, Maine and Ohio. Although his work took him and his family to many places, Maine was always his home and, upon his retirement from Bauer Bros. in Springfield, Ohio, he returned to Maine to build a lovely home by his own hands in Hartford.

He was a longterm member of the Hartford Community Church, where he served as an elder and clerk of session. He volunteered his services to the Presbytery of Northern New England by serving on the committee on ministry and the peace and justice committee. He was a board member of the Rural Community Action Ministry (RCAM) in Leeds and worked with youth groups from the Westminster Church of Buffalo rehabilitating homes in and around Hartford. He was a major force in securing Federal funding for the construction of Whitney Brookside, a low-income housing development in Canton. He served a term as selectman in Hartford and volunteered his time on the road committee.

He was a generous and caring man who freely gave of himself and never asked for nor expected anything in return. He will be remembered for his many kindnesses and the way in which many in his community benefited from his skills as a carpenter and gardener.

He is survived by three daughters, Judy Hamilton and her husband, Thomas, of Hartford, Jane Adams of Illinois, and Bonnie Adams, also of Illinois; eight grandchildren, Debbie Hamilton, M.D., and her husband, Michael Hornbach, of Wilton, Robin Wade and her husband, John, of Illinois, Amy Dunn and her husband, Brian, of Illinois, Tracy Novak of Illinois, Jason Robinson of Florida, and his fiancée, Lori Newcomb, Tim Adams and his wife, Carolyn, of Indiana, Justin Robinson (serving in Iraq) and his wife, Andrea and Grant Adams and his fiancée, Carmen Villasenor; eight great-grandchildren, Cody Novak, Jessie Feher, Leela Hornbach, Griffin Dunn, Evan Hornbach, Paris Jane Marshall, Ryan and Kaitlyn Adams; and two brothers, Bernard L. Adams Jr. of Canton Point and J. Wesley Adams and his wife, Marie, of Canton; and his daughter-in-law, Mika Adams who lives in Indiana..

He was predeceased by his only son, Bernard (Gene) Adams in 1992.

All who have been affected by Albert Adams are invited to celebrate his extraordinary life.
