U.S. Army Sergeant First Class William J. Connor, Jr. (Retired), 81, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of January 01, 2021 in the Milton Hershey Medical Center in Hershey.

He was born October 04, 1939 in Harrisburg, the beloved son of the late Reverend William James Connor, Sr. and the late Evelyn Wilson-Connor.

Main as he was affectionately called, received his formal education in the Harrisburg Public School System and graduated from the former William Penn High School in 1957.

He worked for State Farm Insurance Company prior to joining the military.

Main join the U.S. Army in 1959 and served until 1979. His army duty stations included: Vietnam, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, France, Germany, and Hawaii.

He worked at the New Cumberland Army Depot.

Main confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Reverend William Toland in St. Paul Baptist Church, Harrisburg.

He liked to socialize and he'd often make friends anywhere he went. He also enjoyed fixing things, so naturally, he worked on cars whenever he could.

The last few years, if you didn't catch Main playing solitaire, he was either dancing with his wife to artists such as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Percy Sledge, Junior Walker & The All Stars, Sam & Dave, and James Brown or watching ANY action movie with Jean-Claude Van Damme, Steven Seagal, or Chuck Norris.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson: Jayceon K. J. Moore; his sister: Grace Connor - Williams; and, his brothers: Woodrow Connor and Charles Connor.

Main is survived by his wife: Elretha Connor; his daughter: Tanya Connor; his sons: Christopher Connor and Dwayne Connor; his granddaughters: Daijore Connor and Destiny Connor; his grandson: Christopher Connor, Jr.; his great-granddaughter: Daijianna Connor; his great-grandsons: Demauri Smith and Chris Connor; his sisters: Wilma Jackson (twin) and Eleanor; his brothers: Douglas Connor and Kenneth Connor, Sr.; his cousins; and, his nieces and nephews.
