Wanda Lorraine (James) Davidson, 79, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, died as she lived holding the hand of her husband and sweetheart on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 of natural causes related to her long term struggle with cerebral amyloid angiopathy.
Wanda was born November 10, 1940 to Hazle (Scouten) and Francis James in Phillips, Texas. Wanda was the fourth of five children: Joan Currie (deceased), Jackie James, Nelda Grillo, and Geraldine Sather. Devoted wife to Harold Dean Davidson and loving mother to Lori J. Deckert, Angela R. Shipley, and Heather Davidson Curtis. She was blessed to be called "Nana" by her grandchildren: Robert & Megan Shipley, Erik Deckert, Jason Deckert, Kathrynne Curtis & Stephen Curtis.
Wanda and Harold were married in Nederland, Texas on June 8, 1958 and celebrated their 62nd anniversary in June of 2020. She would have celebrated her 80th birthday on November 10, 2020.
How to describe Wanda? She was a philanthropist, seamstress, poet, continuous learner, a hostess, events coordinator and party planner, active in her church in the many places she lived, served at her daughters' schools, piano recitals, musical performances, leader of Blue Birds and Campfire Girls troops, decorated stages, sets, costumes and props for innumerable performances and supported her daughters and grandchildren in all manner of events. She loved not only her family but adopted their friends, remembered precious details, and always came with gifts wrapped so prettily you would not want to open them. Wanda served in several organizations for PEO, Ladies Music Club, SAI, raising funds for music scholarships, organizing musical competitions, hosting internationally renowned musicians. She was ceaseless in her service with an ever happy heart. Wherever Wanda served, the sun shined a little brighter. Wanda was a genuine friend, confidant, and treasured gift from heaven.
Wanda leaves her loving family - husband, Dr. Harold D. Davidson; daughters & husbands: Lori & Carl Deckert (Virginia), Angela & Kevin Shipley (Texas), Heather & Rob Curtis (Florida); grandchildren Megan & Robert Shipley (Michigan), Erik Deckert (Washington), Jason Deckert (Virginia), Kathrynne Curtis (Georgia) & Stephen Curtis (Florida); siblings: Carl Currie (Texas), Jackie & Celia James (North Carolina), Nelda & Vincent Grillo (Texas), Geraldine & Bill Sather (Texas); and many nieces and nephews, grand nieces & nephews, cousins, and family in love. Preceded in death by her parents Hazle (Scouten) James & Francis James, and her sister Joan (James) Currie.
Raised in the choir and front row of the Baptist Church in which her father preached, Wanda and her sisters have given their hearts and lives in service of others. Wanda's special gift of "pixie dust" and magic, blessed all who knew her. "To meet her is a joy; she spreads sunshine everywhere she goes."
Mother - you will be missed beyond measure. Although this world is significantly darker, we know heaven is shining more brightly. Fly high on your bluebird wings sweet Momma.
