CW3 (Ret) Donald Eugene Long, age 73 of Clarksville, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021.

Celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. John Richardson officiating. Burial and full U.S. Military Honors will follow at Ramey Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Donny entered this life on October 17, 1947 in Mableton, GA to the late Robert Benjamin and Annie Mae Willoughby Long.

He was a Retired Veteran of The United States Army and a founding Night Stalker of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. During his time in the military as a pilot, he achieved the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with eight Campaign Stars, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the Senior Army Aviation Badge.

More than anything he loved spending time with his family, especially his wife, Glenda. The two were inseparable. Where you would see one, you seen the other. He was a handy man of all trades and could fix anything. Donny always had a smile on his face and could make everyone feel so loved and special.

He was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church where he was a part of the Praise and Worship team. Donny loved singing and playing the harmonica. He loved sweets, especially ice cream and pie, and gave the best hugs. Donny was a Christian man, whose heart was full of love for Jesus.

Survivors include his loving wife, Glenda Long; children, Andy (Teri) Long, Thea (LeGrande) Byrnes, Laura (Josh) Wright, Nita (Devin) Gilliam, Shannon (Cory) Gunter, Buddy (Whitney) Griffin, and Melissa Griffin; brothers, Terry (Joyce) Long, and Barry Long. Donnie was the loving Pawpaw to Maggie, Drew, Reed, Lilli Grace, Erikk, Nick, Debbie, Morgan, Aiden, Brian, Blane, Eva, Brittney, Devin, Caleb, Abby, Chase, Ava, MaKayla, Natalie, Presley, and Jameson, and 9 great-grandchildren. Donny also leaves behind his furry, four legged companion, Isabella.

Military will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Agnew, Erikk Agnew, Drew Long, Reed Crocker, Buddy Griffin, Devin Gilliam, Caleb Gilliam, Brian Wilkins, Blane Wilkins, Jordan Sullivan, and Chase Nichols.
