As a young girl, Von was baptized in the Central Christian Church. She attended Fairview Schools until friends introduced her to the love of her life. Jerry and Von were united in marriage on June 23, 1950 in Drummond, Oklahoma and made their home in the Canton area. They were blessed with three children: Nancy Cully, Wade Williams and Becky Garriott.
Throughout her life, Von worked in a variety of different fields. She enjoyed working as a florist, making her daughters and granddaughters wedding flowers. Von loved serving her community by helping with the startup of the Walleye Rodeo, managing the community pool, serving on the town board, helping with the startup of the Grand Arts Council of Canton (GACC), and serving as the mayor of Canton off and on for a number of years. In her later years, she enjoyed volunteering at the GACC thrift store and visiting with members of the community. Von enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed taking her grandkids and great grandkids mushroom hunting and beach combing.
