Eleen M. "Ellie" Cagle, 74, a resident of the Forest Grove community, died Thursday evening, June 29, 2006 at her home.
A Celebration of Eleen's Life will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home, 2308 Pacific Avenue in Forest Grove, with Reverend C. Eugene Sabin, retired, officiating. Family Interment was held at the Vernonia Memorial Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to attend a reception immediately following the service, to be held at the Forest Grove Elks Lodge, 2810 Pacific Avenue in Forest Grove.
ELEEN MAE "ELLIE" CAGLE was born June 14, 1932 in Garibaldi, Oregon, the daughter of Otis Albert Fuller and Helen Marie (Shafer) Fuller. She was raised and received her early education in Rockaway until 1941 when she moved with her family to the Vernonia community. Eleen graduated from Vernonia High School in 1951.
She was united in marriage to Sam D. Cagle on August 25, 1951 in Stevenson, Washington. Following their marriage they made their home in Vernonia until 1969 when they moved to Forest Grove. Eleen was preceded in death by her husband, Sam, on December 5, 1997, after forty-six years of marriage.
In 1956, Eleen, or as she was known by her co-workers, "Ellie", began her career at Tektronix in Beaverton. Eleen worked for Tektronix for over twenty-seven years, working in different capacities over the years. For several years prior to her retirement on April 8, 1983, Eleen worked as Manager of the Stock Room.
Eleen was a charter member of the Forest Grove Elkettes, having served as Past President
Among her interests, Eleen enjoyed watching sports, especially football, basketball and baseball. She spent many hours watching her nieces and nephews play sports of the years. She had been a Portland State season ticket holder for many years. She enjoyed playing Bunco and pinochle with groups of friends. She was an avid golfer and spent many rounds playing with her sisters and her special cousin and golf partner, Connie Walrath. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to her favorite place, Hawaii, as well as a trip to Nova Scotia. Ellen enjoyed taking trips to the casinos.
She was also preceded in death by her father, Otis A. Fuller in 1979; her mother, Helen Baker in 1985; and her stepmother, Vesta Fuller in 1998.
Eleen is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and John Heisler of Forest Grove, Oregon and Edna and Earl Wantland of Portland, Oregon; a brother and sister-in-law, Albert "Homer" and Julie Fuller of Longview, Washington; two granddaughters, JoLynn Sherman of Beaverton, Oregon and JoAnne Sherman of Hillsboro, Oregon; a great-granddaughter, Sarah; many special nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews; and her very dear and close friends, Paul and Amy Jenne and their three children whom she loved as grandchildren, Mark, Bethany and Sam.
The family suggests that remembrances may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 427 SE 8th Avenue, Hillsboro, Oregon 97123, in her memory.
