Sheila Ann McElroy Walker Stewart was born in Winnfield, Louisiana on January 24, 1942. She passed away peacefully in her home on September 28, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents Ardis Roscoe McElroy and Ruth Inez Norred McElroy, and her husband and the father of her children, Ray Roland Walker.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Gerald Stewart, her brother John Ray McElroy(Joyce), two sons Mike Walker (Kathy) and Bobby Yelverton (Nadine), one daughter Sarita Horne(Tracey), three grandchildren Cara Barnes (Daniel), Lauren Emmons (Michael), and Thomas Horne; six great grandchildren Lilly Barnes, Mattie Barnes, Kylianne Barnes, Cooper Barnes, Jake Emmons and Rhett Emmons. In addition to her close family, she will be missed by several nieces, nephews, and honorary family and friends.

Sheila was a teacher of 30 years at Dodson High School in Winn Parish. As a teacher and mentor, she impacted the lives of many. Her musical talent was known throughout Winn Parish and beyond. She was a member of United Baptist Church in Campti, LA, and most recently served as pianist at Old Union Baptist Church in Joyce, La.

Services will be held at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield, Louisiana with Rev. Robert Leach officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, September 29, 2021, and from 12:00 until time of funeral at 2:00 Thursday. Interment will immediately follow at New Hope Cemetery in Gaars Mill, La.

Assisting Reverend Leach will be reverends Lindell Stewart, Mike Hunzell, and Richard DeBusk. Serving as pallbearers will be Brock Pendarvis, Richard Waller, Brandt Barton, Jimmy Thompson, Clint Pepper, Cody Lasyone, Sam Gunter, and Dylan Womack.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are: Heath McElroy, Kirk Miles, Tacoma Stricklin, and J. J. Worthington.

The family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in honor of Sheila's great-great nephew, Jaxon Worthington.
