Abilene - It is with great sadness, the family of Kristin Renee Mitchell, announces her passing on December 2, 2007, at the age of 26. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Greg Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in Caps Cemetery, under the direction of North's Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends Thursday, December 6, 2007, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St.

Kristin was born May 26, 1981, in Abilene, Texas, where she attended Abilene public schools, and graduated from Clyde High School in 1999. She graduated with honors from McMurry College in May 2004 with a bachelor's degree in Sociology and a minor in Psychology.

Kristin was employed by Taylor County as a Probation Officer. She enjoyed working with children and young adults; helping them to overcome the obstacles they were often challenged with and achieve success in their lives. Kristin opened her heart to many young people during her short career. Kristin challenged herself regularly by setting new goals and being an achiever. She was admired by peers and coworkers.

Kristin was a beautiful young woman with a positive attitude, a pleasant demeanor, and was very respectful of everyone she came in contact with. She was "our angel" sent from heaven! She had a radiant smile that always brought joy to those around her and a great sense of humor. Kristin lived life to its fullest. She valued her relationships with her family. Her mother was her best friend. Kristin adored her niece, Mackenzie and enjoyed watching her grow and develop from infancy to the inquisitive toddler stage.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Arnulfo "Poppa" Martinez and aunt, Rachel A. Martinez.

She is survived by her parents, Joanne and Peter Krimmel, both of Abilene; her brother and wife, Douglas and Andrea Mitchell of Abilene; maternal grandmother, Cynthia Martinez of Abilene; her aunt and husband, Debbie Martinez and Marvin Randolph of Anchorage, Alaska; uncle and wife, Arnulfo and Irma Martinez, Jr.; uncle and wife, Frank G. and Cindy Mallory, niece, MacKenzie Mitchell; cousin, Michael S. Martinez of Anchorage, AK; and great uncle and wife, Raul and Tina Martinez. She is further survived by numerous cousins, other relatives, many friends and coworkers, and her kitty, Simon. Kristin will be missed by her close friends and loving neighbors, Bill and Sandra Haynes. Kristin was preceded in death by her grandfather, Arnulfo "Poppa" Martinez and aunt, Rachel A. Martinez.

Pallbearers will be Mike Lindsey, Fernando Urista, Ed Gutierez, Ricky Sanchez, Larry Jones and Randall Williams.
