Catherine Jean Johnson, 70, passed away peacefully in Menard, Texas on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.

Cathy was born in Memphis, Texas on June 5, 1951 to Homer and Patsy Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Richard "Ricky" Wayne Goins.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Tony Johnson of Menard, Texas; daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Riojas and son-in-law Roy Riojas of Christoval, Texas and daughter-in-law Eunice Goins of San Angelo, Texas. Sisters, Charlotte Carter and husband Harvey Carter of Kerrville, Texas and Terri Kinzey of Willis, Texas. Grandchildren, Monica Spiller and husband Travis Spiller of Hutto, Texas; Tomas Riojas and wife Mackynna Riojas of San Angelo, Texas and Elliana Goins of San Angelo, Texas. Her grandchildren were always the highlight of her life. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Holden Spiller and Aspyn Riojas; nieces and nephews, Jeff Carter of Kerrville, Texas; Julie Carter of San Angelo, Texas; Kyle Kinzey of San Angelo, Texas; Justin Kinzey of Copperas Cove, Texas and Kayla Papke of Kempner, Texas.

Cathy spent most of her life in League City, Texas, where she attended Clear Creek High School and started her career with GTE. She transferred with GTE to San Angelo, Texas and made it her home for many years.

In 2020, she bought a cabin in Texas Campgrounds, Willis, Texas. She treasured the peaceful existence of living in her cabin, which provided comfort as she battled health issues in the end.

Cathy retired from GTE/Verizon with over 29 years of service. After retiring from Verizon, she worked for the Christoval School District in charge of Christoval ISD cafeterias.

She loved to cruise and visited many of the Caribbean islands. She was always ready to travel. Ruidoso, New Mexico was one of her favorite places to visit.

Cathy was also blessed with a large extended family, to include the Johnson's and Goins families and many friends who loved her. She will be dearly missed by all.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Terry Johnson family of Menard, Texas; the doctors and nurses of Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX and Hospice of San Angelo for their kindness during her illness.

Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home in San Angelo on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 10 AM - 12 PM. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM, Friday, October 1, 2021 at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo; she will be buried next to her son.

Pall bearers will be, Tomas Riojas, Jeff Carter, Kyle Kinzey, Justin Kinzey, Terry Johnson, David Johnson, Andy Johnson and Robert Johnson.
