Janice Cox McCord, age 74, a resident of Columbia, passed away Sunday evening, September 12, 2021, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 1st at 3:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Thomas officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 1:00pm until the 3:00pm service hour. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on January 13, 1947, in Williamson County, Janice was the daughter of the late Elisha Allen Cox, Sr. and the late Velma Gladys Walton Cox. She was a 1965 graduate of Franklin High School and earned her nursing degree from Columbia State Community College. Janice worked forty-seven years in the Emergency Room at Williamson Medical Center before retiring in 2013. She dedicated her entire life to taking care of people. She was a member of Lawrence Grove Baptist Church. She had a very special love for her beloved cat, Ro-Ho.

She is survived by her son, Jason McCord (Mysti Kalappura) of Columbia, daughter, Sharon (Darrel) Crafton of Columbia, sister, Carlene (David) Anderson of Thompsons Station, sister in law, Patricia Cox; grandchildren, CJ Crafton, Thomas Crafton, Madison McCord, Alexis McCord, special nieces, Leeann Scales and Marie Scales, and many other nieces and nephews who she dearly loved.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy Cox, Joe Cox, Elisha Cox, Jr., and sister, Margie Scales.

Honorary pallbearers will include her best friends and coworkers, Ricky Smithson and Dr. Ron Hagen, and her past coworkers at Williamson Medical Center ER.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Nursing Honor Guards for their care and concerns.
