Pansy Pauline Walters, age 88 of LaPlata, Missouri, formerly of Brashear, passed away in the Elsberry Health Care Center in Elsberry Thursday morning November 30, 1995. She had resided there for several months.
She was born in Adair County May 5, 1907 the daughter of Robert C. and Anna J. Downing Payne. On March 2, 1930 in Kirksville she was united in marriage to Wayne Cecil Walters who precded her in death May 19, 1978. To this union twin sons were born. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son Donald Walters in 1962; a brother in infancy and a brother Roy Payne in 1978.
Surviving are a son, Ronald P. Walters and his wife Becky of St. Charles, Missouri; a granddaughter Dana Round and her husband Chris of Branson, Missouri; three grandsons, Michael Walters and his wife Ann of St. Peters, Missouri, Brian Walters and David Walters both of St. Charles, Missouri and a great-grandson, Cody Round of Branson, Missouri.
Pansy was a member of the Brashear Community Bible Church and was raised and educated in Knox and Adair counties. Pansy graduated from Brashear High School in the first graduating class and attended Kirksville State Teacher's College, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. he was a housewife and homemaker and taught school for thirty plus years. Her teaching experience was in rural schools in Knox and Adair counties, Hurdland, Brashear and Ellisville, Missouri. After the death of her husband she lived in LaPlata until she moved to St. Charles and Elsberry area to be near her son and his family.
Funeral services will be held Sunday December 3, 1995 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Park View Chapel in Kirksville. The Rev. Louis Wollenberg of LaPlata will officiate the services. Music will be provided by Anita Shelton, Harold and Bettie Moyer and Mildred Cooper. Musical selections will be "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In The Garden". Burial will b in the Brashear Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Chris Round, Mike Walters, Brian Walters, Dave Walters, Bob Payne and Bud Payne. Honorary bearers will be Cliff McNew, Leon Moncrief, James Helton, Sr., Gerald Mossbarger, Norman Ornes and Von McCoy.
