Arthur was the son of Karl Casper "Charles" Bittorf and Ernestine Wilhelmina Martin both of Germany. Charles filed for a passport in 1911 and by 1920, Arthur's parents were divorced. Wilhelmina is buried here in Inglewood Park; Charles is not.

Arthur married Wanda Giroux about 1924 and they had one girl, Gene.
