LEE GRIFFITHS JOHNSON

Age 77, passed into Glory on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. Lee was a child of the King, a brother in Christ, and a sojourner traveling through a world that was not his home. He was a loving husband, devoted father, doting grandfather and supportive friend.
Lee leaves behind his wife, Launi, of 50 years as well as his daughters, Joy (Kevin) Smith and Julie (Chas) Muirhead. He also breathed into the lives of his grandchildren: Phoenix, Abigail, Julia, Gavin, Liberty, Christian, Jonah, Ember, and Liam Smith as well as Grace, Hope, Joy, and Archer Muirhead. Lee was predeceased by his parents, Carroll and Eileene (Griffiths) Johnson as well as his brother, Alan. He is survived by his brother, David, and many close relatives and friends.
Lee was an encourager to the weary and devoted his life to following Jesus and loving others above himself. He truly loved unconditionally with a fierce devotion and a gentle heart.
He found beautiful things in humble places where others saw nothing at all. He was refreshingly genuine. He had a warmth about him that was unparalleled and transcended words. He was strong yet gentle. He was witty yet sober. He enjoyed the simple things in life, yet he marveled at the mystery and depth of that which is unexplained. He was all about the journey and lived for the destination. He enjoyed good coffee, true connection, real conversation, and beautiful sunsets along the way.
He lived to encourage others. He joined people in their joy and cried with them in their sorrow. His smile and his essence radiated warmth and love to all with whom he crossed paths. That essence will live on in his wife, two daughters, two sons-in-law, and 13 grandchildren. While his passing has left a void within, we are filled with awe that we had the beautiful opportunity to be shaped and forever changed by this amazing man.
All are welcome to join us in celebrating Lee's life, legacy, and love of food, fellowship, and fun at Mingo Creek County Park, Pavilion 5, on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Monday, October 4, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to join the funeral procession at 2:00 at BEINHAUER FUNERAL HOME in McMurray. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you shine some light into this dark world by showing generosity to someone in need or engaging in a random act of kindness; It always gave Lee such joy to bless others by reflecting the light of the Son and sharing Christ's love in a tangible way.
