Reverend Jack "Papa Jack" Green, age 76, of LaFayette, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Green; son, Tim Green; parents, Zadie and James Green; brothers, Bill Green and Joe Green; and sister, Jimmie Barker.
Rev. Jack was born in LaFayette, Georgia on May 10, 1945. He was the pastor of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church for 26 years. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He was a light for God at all times sharing the gospel with everyone he came in contact with.
Survivors include sons, Howard (Peggy) Green Jr., Steven (Tammy) Green, Shawn "Butterbean" (Jody) Green; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; brother, Fred Green; and sisters, Margaret Hullender, Betty Jean Blalock, and Mary Ann Ballinger. Several nieces and nephew also survive.
Funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2021 at LaFayette First Baptist Church.
Interment at LaFayette City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Matthew Bolden, Tim Sanders, Jonathan Walker, Max Studdard, Maverick Suits, Randy Ballinger, and Thomas Peterson.
Honorary pallbearers are the members of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held at LaFayette First Baptist church on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
