Nancy "Midge" J. (Leighton) Owen
October 16, 1947 ~ September 27, 2021 (age 73)

Nancy Jay "Midge" Owen, of Petoskey, died September 27th, 2021, in her home, after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chaz" Owen, and is survived by her son, James "Owen," his partner, Kristin "Maya" Story, and their children, Leif Owen and Nahni Story.

Midge was born in 1947 to parents George and Laura (Tanner) Leighton, was raised in the Detroit area, and moved with her husband and son to Petoskey in 1977. She enjoyed a long career with First National Bank and Trust, NBD and Bank One before joining the floor crew of Odawa Casino—then "Victories"—in 2000. She worked first as a dealer, then as a "pit boss" until her retirement in 2020. Throughout her career, she was beloved by coworkers, colleagues, customers and guests alike.

Midge enjoyed going to the casino, spending time with friends, and following the ups and downs of the Detroit Tigers. But she derived the greatest pleasure and pride from listening to her household musicians—especially her grandchildren—practicing and performing music.

A gathering of friends and family, in celebration of Midge's life, will be held at a future date.

Stone Funeral Home, Inc. is handling her arrangements.
