Hugh Barton Bowling, 81, of Clinton, one of the pioneer coal mine operators, died at 7:45 a.m. Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs E H Stegall, 401 Kenyon Avenue, Knoxville. He had been residing at the home of Mrs Stegall for the past two years. Mr Bowling resided for 60 years at Clinton and was the oldest resident of that town. His family was among the pioneers to locate at Clinton. he was a senior deacon of First Baptist church at Clinton. The body will remain at the home of Mrs. Stegall until 10 a.m. today, when it will be taken with the funeral party to Clinton. Funeral services will be conducted at First Baptist church at Clinton at 2:30 p.m. today. Burial will be in Sunset cemetery. Mr Bowling is survived by three daughters; Mrs E O Kaserman, of Des Moines, Mrs E H Stegall, of Knoxville and Mrs W L Foster, of Tulsa, Okla.; five sons, Owen M, of Atlanta, J H, of Lexington, Ky., C S and J B Bowling, of Knoxville, and W A Bowling of Clinton; three sisters, Mrs A E Hayes and Miss I C Bowling, of Knoxville, and Mrs Martha O'Bannon of Elwood, Ind.; two brothers, A H and J H Bowling, of Knoxville.
