Born on January 2, 1955, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Ivan Dillard Akers and Daisy May Adams Akers.
Mrs. Potter was retired from Pinecrest Hospital in Beckley as an L.P.N.
She was a member of Jones Memorial Baptist Church in Beckley, and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Potter; by a brother, Bernard Ray Akers, and a sister, Sandra Kay Canaday.
Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Tara L. Wood of Knoxville, TN; a stepson, Christopher Allen Potter and wife Kristen of Elkton, MD; beloved grandchildren whom she adored, Trent Wood and James Logsdon Jr. A brother, Kenneth Akers and wife Patricia of Maple Fork.
Three special family members and caregivers, Teresa Goad of North Carolina, Ronald Canaday of Crab Orchard, and Jennifer Runyon of Beaver. Many other nieces and nephews, along with a sister-in-law Ruby Akers of Beaver, also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at noon with Pastor Roger Pauley officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Tuesday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Facial coverings and social distancing will be observed as mandated by the Governor of the State of WV.
