Tommy was born October 8, 1959 in Dayton, Texas. Growing up, he enjoyed playing various sports and hunting and fishing with his dad and siblings. The only person that ever out-fished him was his grandmother, Maude. In his teen years, Tommy found a love for baseball and became very good at the sport. Perhaps the only thing he pursued more in high-school than baseball was the apple of his eye, Laurel Jasper. He often told his friends and family that he would marry her one day. His persistence paid off, and they began to date while both attending Channelview High School. Tommy began attending church services with Laurel and eventually made the life-changing decision to obey Christ in baptism. This would be the greatest decision of his life, and he would spend the remainder of his years raising his family in the training and admonition of the Lord.
Tommy and Laurel were married on May 17, 1980. They built their first home in Baytown, TX in 1984 where they would live and raise their family for over 30 years. Shortly after, in May of 1988, they welcomed their daughter Amber and in March of 1991 their son, Corey. Tommy and Laurel raised their family as members of the Pruett and Lobit Street Church of Christ in Baytown, TX, where Tommy also served as an elder for a number of years. He dedicated himself to the Lord's work in his family, in the church, and in the community. Tommy worked 32 years at Covestro (formerly Miles, Mobay, and Bayer) in Baytown and retired in April of 2020. Following his retirement, Tommy and Laurel moved to Hockley, TX to be closer to family and spend time with their precious grandchildren Isla, Blake, August and Baker. Tommy continued his work serving his family and the Lord as a member of the Cy-Fair Church of Christ in Cypress, TX. He also enjoyed spending time with brothers and sisters in Christ, working out at the deer lease with his son and hunting buddies, and playing golf with his brothers and son.
Tommy had a profound impact on all that knew him. His heart of gold and his consistent faith in the Lord were immediately evident to all he came in contact with. He leaves a legacy of a faithful family and many friends that are made better by having known him. His family is so proud of the life that he led, and comforted by his hope in the Lord.
