The oldest son of N. J. Bozarth died Tuesday night of scarlet fever. The little boy was about five years of age. He had been sick but a few days. This is a sad blow to Mr. and Mrs. Bozarth -- their first great sorrow.

Mrs. Stevens, mother of N. J. Bozarth, came home last week from South Bend, where she had been visiting, to attend the burial of her little grandson. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Howell, other grandparents, from Kouts, were also present.

To the memory of Essie, little son of Nelson and Mary Bozarth, who died April 5, 1882, aged 5 years, 5 months and 18 days.
Dearest Essie, thouh hast gone
To the realms of endless bliss.
No more be heard thy sweet voice,
Nor be felt that good-night kiss.
He has left us, our darling,
Left us for the home above;
Left to join the angel band,
Which is in the land of love.
So soon did death appear,
To claim him as his own;
So soon did God summon
The spirit to its home.
By and by we shall meet thee,
When this work on earth is done;
But, we never shall forget thee,
Till death the victory has won.

Gravesite Details
No tombstone is known to mark the burial location of Essie Bozrath in the Old City Cemetery in Valparaiso. Alternatively, Essie's tombstone may have been removed or is hidden under turf. Both parents are buried in the Old City Cemetery, however.
