Janet Cavanagh Freeman, 80, of Watauga, passed away on September 25, 2021, on her late husband's birthday, after a battle with cancer.

Janet was born in Brooklyn, New York to George Robert and Catherine Pauline Cavanagh on October 15, 1940. She was the second of four children. Janet had a very fulfilling childhood and enjoyed taking trips with her family. Janet went on to graduate for John Adams High School and went to Dental School to become a dental hygienist. As a dental hygienist she worked to restore the smiles of cancer patients, work that she found very rewarding.

After being swept off her feet by a handsome Navy man, Janet married the love of her life, Robert Warren Freeman of New Jersey, on May 27, 1960. They went on to have two daughters, Janice Lynn and Cathy Jo, who they loved unconditionally. Her girls could not have asked for a better mother or role in life. After the birth of her children, Janet changed careers and started working in the office of her daughter's school, PS31 Elementary in Bayside, New York. She was also the security guard of the school much to her husband's amusement. She worked at the school until Bob was transferred to Watauga, Texas with American Airlines in 1983.

Upon moving to Texas, Janet worked for Birdville ISD as an aide for Grace Hardeman Elementary and Foster Village Elementary. At Foster Village she worked as an office aide and also ran the Writing To Read Program teaching students computer skills.

After her retirement, Janet enjoyed spending time at home with her husband Bob, going to Janice's school helping students in the classroom, attending volleyball games at Cathy's school, playing computer games, crocheting, putting together puzzles, and keeping up with all her many "adopted" children and grandchildren. All these activities kept her very busy and brought her so much happiness. As a lover of animals, Janet also enjoyed spending quality time with her numerous pets. She always seemed to find the good in life and lived every moment to the fullest. Janet loved to laugh, smile, and just have fun.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, George and Catherine Cavanagh, her husband Robert, brother George, and sister Dorothy.

Janet is survived by her daughters, Janice and Cathy, both of Watauga. She is also survived by her brother Walter, also of Watauga.

A funeral service for Janet will be held Saturday, October 2, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 COLLEYVILLE BLVD, COLLEYVILLE, TX 76034.
