CHARLES JUNIUS BURGESS was born to the late Collier Burgess, Jr. and Nettie Brinkley Burgess on August 7, 1953, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He transitioned from this earthly life and entered his heavenly home on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Vidant North Hospital in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

Charles joined the St. Luke Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina, during his early life and made his confession to Christ.

Charles received his formal education in the Halifax County Public School System. He entered the workforce at the former J.P. Stevens and Company in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and remained until he decided that his passion was for the outdoors. He then became employed on the Crawley farm and eventually went into the logging business with Robert Earl Crawley until his retirement in 2018. However, he continued in the logging industry until his health declined.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Pamela Denise Burgess; one sister, Alice Faye Burgess; and one brother, Stanley Burgess.
