She was born 25 April 1877 to Hermann Beissert and Anna Steinmetz Beissert of Newark. She married Roger Nutty, son of John Douglass Nutty and Elizabeth Elliott Nutty, on 23 August 1898 in Newark. Their three daughters were Anna Jeannette (Nutty) Rehman, Vera May (Nutty) Plummer, and Helen Adele (Nutty) Harrington.
