Richard Edgeworth was the eldest son of Richard Lovell Edgeworth and his first wife, Anna Maria Elers. He predeceased his father. Richard Edgeworth settled in the United States and married Elizabeth Knight, with whom he had issue: Nathaniel Lovell Edgeworth (1789-1872); Achilles Sneyd Edgeworth (1791-1858); and Richard Edgeworth (1795-1861).
